Principal Software Engineer

About the role

QuoteWell is building a modern commercial insurance brokerage that blends technology with deep domain expertise. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to help shape our product, drive AI‑powered features, and deliver high‑impact solutions for brokers.

Key responsibilities

• Own and deliver features across our all‑TypeScript stack (React + Node).
• Partner with Product, Design, and Data to define problems, break them into incremental solutions, and validate with users.
• Design and implement AI‑driven, LLM‑powered tools that automate broker workflows.
• Model complex insurance data in intuitive, user‑friendly interfaces.
• Collaborate in a remote‑first, flexible engineering culture and share knowledge about insurance concepts.

Required profile

• Strong experience with TypeScript, React, and Node (or a very similar stack) and a proven record of shipping production code.
• Demonstrated ability to influence product and business direction through engineering insights.
• Interest in applied AI/LLM techniques and how they can power real products.
• Collaborative mindset across the full product lifecycle, from specification to testing and user validation.
• Generalist attitude willing to learn new technologies and adapt to business needs.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Austin or team off‑sites.
