Principal Consultant - Technology Procurement

About the role

Proxima is hiring a Principal Consultant for its IT and Technology practice in Chicago. You will join client-facing teams delivering commercial, sourcing and supplier initiatives in IT procurement, supporting insight development, solution design and the delivery of measurable results. The role is practitioner-led, with a hybrid, global working model.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery across client engagements and experience leading and managing global teams.
• Build strategy and execution, lead category management and sourcing activities, and assist with opportunity identification, supplier research and commercial analysis.
• Build structured fact bases, analyze data and use Excel and data analysis techniques to find value, risk and performance improvement opportunities.
• Support benefits tracking and progress against delivery milestones, ensuring analyses are accurate and decision-oriented.
• Gather requirements with client stakeholders, communicate findings clearly, and support workshops and day-to-day client interactions.
• Work in a hybrid environment, collaborate with a global team and travel domestically and internationally as required.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in global IT procurement category knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of indirect procurement, ideally gained in a consultancy environment or alongside consultants.
• Deep subject matter expertise in Enterprise Software, IT Services and/or Cloud Hosting.
• Experience with spend profiles over $50M annual.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and ownership, comfort in a fast-paced delivery environment, willingness to travel, and motivation for a long-term consulting career.
