Principal Backend Architect / Engineer (C#/.NET, Azure)

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Backend Architect/Engineer to define and evolve the server‑side architecture of our product portfolio. The role is fully remote within Latin America and requires hands‑on development while leading technical direction.

Key responsibilities

• Define the backend architecture and lead the incremental migration from a monolith to well‑bounded services.
• Create and enforce platform standards, shared libraries, service templates, and API contracts with versioning and backward compatibility.
• Design event‑driven architecture using Azure Service Bus, ensuring delivery guarantees, retries, idempotency and handling of poison messages.
• Collaborate with the Data Architect on transactional boundaries, query performance and integrations with clients and partners.
• Lead daily use of generative AI tools (e.g., Claude, Claude Code) to boost development productivity and mentor the team in AI‑assisted engineering.
• Write Architecture Decision Records, conduct key code reviews, provide mentorship, and participate in incident response and quarterly planning.

Required profile

• 10+ years of backend development experience with several years in formal architecture or technical leadership roles.
• Deep expertise in C#/.NET and proven hands‑on experience with Azure services (Functions, Service Bus, Data Factory).
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, Snowflake, and modern CI/CD/DevOps pipelines.
• Demonstrated success in incrementally decomposing monoliths into micro‑services.
• Strong background in asynchronous messaging, idempotency, dead‑letter handling and robust API design.
• Daily, practical use of AI‑agent tools such as Claude and Claude Code, including building reusable agents and evaluating outputs.
• Hands‑on mindset: the candidate must continue to write code and build solutions, not just manage.
