Postdoctoral Fellow – Virology Research

About the role

The Tse Lab at Saint Louis University School of Medicine is seeking a full‑time Postdoctoral Fellow to advance two high‑impact virology projects: elucidating coronavirus zoonosis mechanisms and developing a safe dengue virus vaccine for children in endemic regions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments to investigate host and viral factors driving coronavirus transmission.
• Engineer dengue virus antigens to remove unsafe epitopes and assess vaccine efficacy in small‑animal models.
• Perform work in Biosafety Level‑3 facilities, including virus propagation and handling.
• Analyze experimental data, generate hypotheses, and prepare scientific manuscripts.
• Participate in grant writing, peer‑review activities, and laboratory management tasks.

Required profile

• PhD in virology or a closely related field.
• Strong publication record and ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self‑motivated with strong troubleshooting and data‑analysis capabilities.

Required skills

• Molecular virology techniques.
• Experience with BSL‑3 laboratory procedures (preferred).
• Viral engineering and structural virology.
• Antigen evolution and vaccine design.
• Small‑animal handling and experimentation.
• Data analysis.
