Porter/Dishwasher – No Nights/Weekends – NYC

About the role

Porters work in a small team to keep Red Rabbit’s kitchen clean, safe and ready for daily meal production. This full‑time, in‑school position runs mornings Monday‑Friday with no night or weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Clean all kitchen areas—including countertops, equipment, walk‑in refrigerators, floors, sinks, dishes and storage—to exceed Department of Health standards.
• Remove trash, cardboard and compost promptly to maintain a debris‑free environment.
• Assist the kitchen team with line preparation and set‑up for meal production each day.
• Support other duties as assigned, such as basic food preparation and equipment checks.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in a restaurant, hotel or commissary kitchen.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, stand for long periods and move around the kitchen.
• Reliable, team‑oriented and able to work calmly in a fast‑moving environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment, safety and sanitation regulations.
