About the role

Applied Materials seeks a senior physicist to lead and execute advanced engineering projects that drive new semiconductor and display technologies. You will spearhead research, develop innovative solutions, and collaborate with internal and external partners to push the boundaries of materials science.

Key responsibilities

• Technically lead complex system projects, define experiments, and approve designs in team reviews.
• Identify and troubleshoot highly complex physics‑related problems in the lab and field.
• Drive innovative physics projects, evaluate new technologies, and lead feasibility studies.
• Mentor less‑experienced scientists and represent the organization in high‑level customer engagements.

Required profile

• Recognized technical expert in physics or related discipline with broad interdisciplinary knowledge.
• Proven ability to lead high‑risk, high‑complexity projects and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong business acumen to anticipate regulatory and market issues.

Required skills

• Advanced physics and experimental design.
• System design and integration for semiconductor equipment.
• Data analysis and interpretation of complex experimental results.
