Phlebotomy PRN

About the role

Aoncology is hiring a phlebotomy professional on a PRN basis at Messino Cancer Centers. The role covers phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting and maintenance, with a pay range of $15.46 to $22.20.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality control procedures before patient testing and carry out laboratory blood work and blood draws.
• Follow procedures for specimen handling and processing, and prepare blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation.
• Send specimens to outside labs according to the patient's insurance plan and receive lab reports by phone, lab system or fax, documenting them in the patient's chart or EMR.
• Show physicians critical blood counts according to guidelines and maintain adequate supply inventory, placing orders with purchasing as needed.
• In the absence of the Lab QA Specialist, troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and contact the central lab or instrument service company if necessary.
• Perform therapeutic phlebotomy and any other duties needed to keep the laboratory compliant with state and federal regulations, including compliance testing.
• Take the required annual CEUs to meet C.O.L.A. requirements, follow safety guidelines, and keep the laboratory clean.
• Comply with federal and state laws on patient care, rights, safety, billing and collections, and adhere to company policies, including IT policies and the disaster recovery plan.
• Protect patient confidentiality, assist in training new employees, and be available to work at any company location and for overtime when given sufficient notice.

Required profile

• At least one year of phlebotomy experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
