Phlebotomist

About the role

Zangmeister Cancer Center is hiring a phlebotomist. The role covers phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting and maintenance, and working in line with accrediting and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality control before patient testing and draw blood samples
• Perform laboratory blood work and technical procedures accurately and on time
• Handle specimens according to lab procedures and prepare blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation
• Send specimens to outside labs as dictated by the patient's insurance plan and receive lab reports by phone, lab system or fax, documenting them in the patient chart or EMR
• Show physicians critical blood counts according to guidelines and maintain adequate supply inventory
• Initiate troubleshooting when instruments malfunction and comply with state and federal regulations, including compliance testing
• Take the required annual CEUs to meet C.O.L.A. requirements and follow safety and confidentiality rules
• Work at any company location and overtime when given sufficient notice; assist in training new employees

Required profile

• At least one year of phlebotomy experience
• High school diploma or GED
