Pharmacy Technician Specialist – Home Infusion

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Specialist to support home infusion patients. The role involves order entry, sterile compounding, and preparation of intravenous and chemotherapeutic solutions under pharmacist supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and compound sterile parenteral, enteral, and chemotherapeutic agents following aseptic technique.
• Enter prescription orders accurately for pharmacist review and authorization.
• Complete delivery documentation and act as a delivery representative when required.
• Perform pharmaceutical quality‑assurance testing and record results.
• Maintain inventory records, log incoming stock, and assist with ordering.
• Participate in patient‑care meetings, continuing‑education workshops, and ensure compliance with all pharmacy policies and regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent plus successful completion of a pharmacy‑technician training program.
• Minimum two years of experience as a pharmacy technician; experience with parenteral products preferred.
• Registered with the state Board of Pharmacy and hold a valid work permit.
• Certification in sterile product preparation or national pharmacy‑technician certification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and Windows‑based applications for data entry.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical mathematics and drug terminology.
• Demonstrated aseptic and sterile technique skills.
• Understanding of safety guidelines for handling chemotherapy agents.
• Ability to operate standard pharmacy and office equipment.
