Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient PRN (Days & Evenings)

About the role

The Pharmacy Technician provides medication delivery, compounding, and inventory support for inpatient areas under close supervision. The position rotates between day and evening shifts and operates on an as‑needed (PRN) schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver medications to designated units following detailed instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Refill and maintain automated dispensing machines, price manual orders, and manage inventory.
• Enter physician orders into the pharmacy order entry system, verify accuracy, and flag discrepancies for pharmacist review.
• Compound IV admixtures and other preparations using aseptic technique.
• Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, and greeting staff at the pharmacy window.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification from the state board.
• At least 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style computer applications and data entry.
• Operation of standard pharmacy dispensing equipment and IV compounding tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication for interacting with nurses, physicians, and pharmacists.
• Basic computer skills for retrieving patient information and printing labels.
