Pharmacy Specialist Clinician (Oncology)

About the role

Vista Oncology is hiring a Pharmacy Specialist Clinician. The role keeps the clinic's medications and supplies ordered and stocked, prepares and mixes medications under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional, and acts as liaison between physicians, nursing, pharmacy and purchasing. Pay is $23.80-$33.46, with a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

Key responsibilities

• Mix chemotherapy drugs and solutions as prescribed by physicians, and maintain records for compassionate drugs, clinical study trials and ambulatory pumps
• Order, stock and dispense medical supplies, review next-day orders with nursing staff and keep par levels with the Pharmacy Supervisor
• Work with drug representatives and pharmaceutical companies to obtain samples, teaching aids and compassionate drugs
• Maintain the chemotherapy hood, dispose of biohazardous waste safely and keep receipts for pick-up
• Train new nurses and pharmacy specialists on chemotherapy preparation and the Nucleus dispensing system
• Attend annual Safety/OSHA and mandatory staff meetings, protect patient and employee confidentiality and comply with federal and state laws
• Willingness to work at any AON location and to work overtime with sufficient notice

Required profile

• High school diploma
• Current PTCB certification or Registered Pharm Tech license
• 2-3 years of clinical pharmacy technician experience; oncology experience preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and to work remotely when required

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Thorough knowledge of the Nucleus medication dispensing system
• Detailed, critical thinking and good oral and written communication
