Permit Technician (PTAN) – Braselton, GA

About the role

The Permit Technician (PTAN) supports the Zoning and Permitting Manager in delivering building permit services to the public. This office‑based position requires a detail‑oriented team player who can assist applicants, maintain permit records, and provide information on building codes and inspection processes.

Key responsibilities

• Work 20 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, handling permit applications and related inquiries.
• Protect confidential information and act responsibly with private property.
• Communicate proactively with staff, partners, and the public.
• Maintain accuracy of the permit tracking database, logging permits issued and inspections performed.
• Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and greet office visitors.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, and file documents.
• Participate in special projects involving research, coordination, and record‑keeping.
• Assist other staff members as needed and compile monthly reports.
• Stay current with training, credentials, and study relevant codes and standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree in Business Administration preferred.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license.
• At least 2 years of office administration or bookkeeping experience (1+ year permit technician experience preferred).
• General knowledge of the construction industry is a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Professional appearance, attitude, and conduct.
• Self‑disciplined, able to work independently without direct supervision.
• Team player who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and demonstrates problem‑solving abilities.
