Permit Technician – Pocono Pines, PA

About the role

The Permit Technician supports the Permit Services team by managing permit applications, maintaining the construction‑permit database, and providing clerical assistance. Working under the Permit Technician Supervisor, you will interact regularly with city officials, contractors, and the public while ensuring high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and verify permit applications (paper or electronic), ensuring all required documents, fees, and approvals are included.
• Enter and update permit and inspection data in the BV tracking system and generate status reports.
• Answer telephone calls, compose routine correspondence, and manage incoming/outgoing documents.
• Communicate courteously with staff, citizens, builders, and contractors, directing inquiries to appropriate resources.
• Assist Permit Review staff and provide backup for special projects, research tasks, and data‑analysis activities.
• Conduct research, gather data, and prepare summaries or reports for ad‑hoc initiatives.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (minimum); Associate’s degree in business administration or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of office operations, clerical, and data‑entry experience; exposure to building‑code or inspection processes is a plus.
• ICC Permit Technician certification required or must be obtained within the first year.
• Valid driver’s license for occasional on‑site visits or training.
