Perception and Autonomy Engineer

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Perception and Autonomy Engineer to design, develop, and implement perception systems for autonomous surface vessels. The role supports the company’s mission to enable fully autonomous maritime operations, working on cutting‑edge sensor fusion, machine‑learning pipelines, and navigation algorithms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop algorithms and models that enable vessels to sense their environment and navigate safely.
• Create metrics for quantitative analysis of performance improvements and regressions.
• Work with large‑scale data systems to train, evaluate, and iterate on perception models.
• Integrate and optimize multi‑modal sensor inputs such as radar, cameras, and LiDAR.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deploy low‑latency inference and tracking pipelines on embedded hardware.

Required profile

• Strong programming fundamentals and experience building large‑scale software systems.
• Solid understanding of operating systems, computer architecture, and systems‑level programming.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt quickly to evolving project needs.

Required skills

• Rust programming language.
• Deep‑learning frameworks: TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Signal processing and sensor fusion.
• Low‑latency inference and tracking pipelines.
• Path‑planning algorithms.
• Training and deploying multi‑modal models.
• Experience with radar, camera, and LiDAR sensors.
