Per Diem Pediatric Hospitalist (General)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled physician dedicated to newborn medicine and pediatric hospital care. The per‑diem hospitalist will provide coverage as needed to ensure uninterrupted care for patients admitted to the General Pediatrics wards and Mother‑Baby units at Holtz Children’s Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient care to healthy newborns, including performance and interpretation of standard newborn screening tests and high‑risk protocols.
• Deliver comprehensive care to pediatric patients on general inpatient units and serve as the attending physician for the teaching service.
• Conduct family‑centered rounds, maintain compassionate communication with families and the multidisciplinary team, and document all clinical findings.
• Supervise and teach pediatric residents, rotating residents, and medical students on both Mother‑Baby and general pediatric services.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives, monitor outcomes, and support protocol updates to enhance patient safety.
• Provide consultation services across the hospital and perform peri‑operative optimization for pediatric patients at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

Required profile

• Valid medical degree and board‑certified or board‑eligible in Pediatrics and/or Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
• Unrestricted Florida medical license (or eligibility to obtain one).
• Maintain CME to satisfy institutional and state licensing requirements.
• Excellent clinical knowledge, interpersonal skills, and ability to meet the responsibilities of the position.
