Per Diem Chaplain (Part‑time, Temporary)

About the role

The Cancer Support Services at UHealth/University of Miami seeks a Per Diem Chaplain to provide spiritual guidance and support to patients, families, and staff during illness, injury, and emergencies. This part‑time, temporary‑intermittent role involves delivering religious services, counseling, and crisis intervention on site.

Key responsibilities

• Provide confidential, non‑judgmental listening, counsel, and spiritual support to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Offer crisis and disaster intervention, bereavement counseling, and guidance in ethical decision‑making.
• Conduct religious services, lead prayers, and coordinate clergy visits.
• Assess and address the spiritual needs of patients undergoing surgery, end‑of‑life care, or traumatic events.
• Support staff coping with patient loss and ensure adherence to university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant chaplaincy or spiritual care experience.
• Board Certified Chaplain preferred.
• Ability to communicate respectfully across cultures and faiths.
