People Operations Associate

About the role

Check is rebuilding its payroll infrastructure and needs a People Operations Associate to help reinvent the candidate and employee experience. You will work across talent acquisition and people operations, supporting recruiting coordination, onboarding, office management, and cultural initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Anchor the San Francisco office, managing lunches, events, supplies, vendors, and future office moves.
• Drive candidate scheduling and communication across all interview loops using Ashby.
• Lead the candidate‑to‑new‑hire transition, handling offer letters, background checks, equipment provisioning, and first‑day plans.
• Support core HR processes, including HRIS data hygiene, audit preparation, compensation changes, payroll, and benefits administration.
• Organize in‑person social gatherings and assist with planning the annual company retreat and virtual experiences for remote teams.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in recruiting coordination and/or people operations.
• Demonstrated success executing time‑sensitive workflows at scale, especially onboarding and offboarding.
• Strong event‑planning ability for both virtual and in‑person experiences.
• AI‑adopter mindset with AI tools already integrated into daily workflows.
• Willingness to work in‑office at least two days per week in San Francisco.
