Patient Transporter

About the role

The Patient Transporter provides essential support by moving patients and equipment throughout Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. This role ensures safe, timely transport while delivering exceptional service to patients, visitors, and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas using wheelchairs, stretchers or beds, handling oxygen tanks, IV pumps and other equipment.
• Verify patient identity and precautions by checking pagers and wristbands before transport.
• Disinfect and maintain transport equipment, perform safety checks and report any malfunctioning items.
• Move and deliver equipment and linen carts, and assist patients during discharge to the lobby.

Required profile

• Organizational, decisive judgment, problem‑solving and good communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, handle multiple tasks in a stressful environment, and follow safety procedures.
• Completion of three months on‑the‑job training covering hospital locations, emergency procedures and proper body mechanics.

Required skills

• Full range of body motion, manual dexterity and eye‑hand coordination.
• Ability to move/transport 100 lb or more.
• Use of personal protective equipment and adherence to standard precautions.
