Patient Services Specialist (Float)

About the role

AON Oncology is hiring a Patient Services Specialist (PSS) for its Greater Heights oncology practice. The PSS provides front-end patient support by handling patient intake, scheduling, medical records and financial transactions, with cross-coverage across functional stations as needed. The position is paid $15.60-$26.58.

Key responsibilities

• Patient intake and registration: greet patients and caregivers, check them in per clinic policy, verify identity, collect payments and co-pays, issue receipts and route calls
• Scheduling and physician support: book appointments, manage physician schedules, assign patients to clinicians, contact patients about missed appointments and relay urgent information to physicians
• Medical records: maintain patient charts in the EMR and billing systems, process faxes and documents, respond to record requests in line with HIPAA and support legal chart requests
• Financial transactions: post payments, prepare daily close documentation and deposits, balance cash drawers and notify the Financial Counselor of billing impacts
• Compliance and flexibility: follow federal, state and local regulations and AON policies, cover absences and vacations, train new staff, assist with multi-site operations and work at alternate AON locations

Required profile

• High school diploma; associate degree preferred
• At least one year of healthcare experience; physician office experience preferred
• Customer service focus, attention to detail and multitasking ability
• Strong communication skills, critical thinking and organizational skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
