Patient Care Nurse Assistant – Pulmonary/Integrated Care

About the role

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) works on the G91 Pulmonary/Integrated Care Unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, providing bedside support to higher‑acuity pulmonary step‑down patients. The role involves assisting with personal care, monitoring, and patient transfers while working day or night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with oral care, personal hygiene, and bedside activities.
• Take vital signs, weight, perform point‑of‑care testing, and collect specimens.
• Monitor fluid intake, check blood sugar, and assist with dressing changes.
• Help with patient transfers, discharges, and keep patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Report abnormal findings to the supervising RN.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) obtained upon hire or during the new‑hire period.
• Knowledge of basic medical procedures and equipment.
• Physical ability to lift patients and perform manual tasks.
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic, or Medical Service Technician is considered a plus.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification (preferred).
• Ability to use basic medical equipment and perform bedside testing.
