Pastry Cook – Makena Golf & Beach Club

About the role

The Makena Golf & Beach Club on Maui is seeking a Pastry Cook 1 to join its Food and Beverage team. You will create and present a full range of pastries, breads, rolls, and desserts for both casual and fine‑dining experiences, supporting the club’s high culinary standards.

Key responsibilities

• Create, prepare, bake and present pastries, breads, rolls and desserts according to recipes and quality standards.
• Develop pastry menu pairings that complement dinner themes in collaboration with the Executive or Sous Chef.
• Maintain cleanliness, food sanitation, and proper storage, including rotation, labeling and dating of all items.
• Work flexible AM and PM shifts, assist in all kitchen stations, and support special events on‑ and off‑site.
• Set up and break down culinary stations, report equipment issues, and ensure timely food production.
• Interact with guests regarding menu items and special requests.
• Train team members on safe work practices and proper equipment use.

Required profile

• At least one year of line or prep cook experience in a world‑class resort, hotel or club.
• Minimum one year of pastry cook experience in a similar high‑end environment.
• Culinary degree or equivalent training preferred.
• Food Safety Certification.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor and strong communication skills.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays and long hours as needed.
