Outdoor Pursuits Associate

About the role

The Outdoor Pursuits Associate delivers premium guest service for members of the club, overseeing all beach‑based activities and ensuring a safe, enjoyable experience. This hands‑on position blends organization, instruction, and active participation in a variety of outdoor recreation programs.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and break down daily beach activities, including equipment preparation.
• Greet guests upon arrival and provide safety briefings for beach and ocean use.
• Maintain daily activity reports, inventory logs, and equipment maintenance records.
• Deliver food, iced water, and towels to members and guests as needed.
• Educate guests about Maui’s history and local environment.
• Demonstrate and train guests on safe use of snorkels, stand‑up paddles, canoes, kayaks, and other beach equipment.
• Escort members on hiking, surfing, canoeing, and kayaking excursions.
• Collaborate with the Director of Outdoor Pursuits to create new amenities and experiences.
• Keep the beach area clean, safe, and well‑stocked, and manage loss‑prevention efforts.
• Ensure the department’s AED, First Aid, and CPR programs are up to date.
• Assist other departments and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Previous experience in guest service or hospitality.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and strong communication skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and long hours as needed.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and stay calm during busy periods.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of outdoor activity coordination.

Required skills

• CPR certification (preferred).
• First Aid certification.
• AED operation and maintenance.
