Part-Time Yellow-Legged Hornet Trapper (Support Services Worker)

About the role
The Georgia Department of Agriculture is seeking a part-time Support Services Worker to help eradicate the invasive yellow-legged hornet. Working seasonally from June through mid-December, you will assist the Plant Protection team by monitoring and maintaining trapping stations across the state.
Key responsibilities
- Deploy approved monitoring traps in designated locations.
- Check each trap approximately once per week, record findings in Survey 123, and replace bait or lure as needed.
- Repair or re-deploy traps that are damaged, missing, or otherwise compromised.
- Notify the supervisor immediately when hornets are captured.
- Maintain confidentiality of trap locations and support nest-location activities when requested.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of beekeeping experience.
- At least one year of gardening experience.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Survey 123 or comparable data-collection software.
What we offer
- Hourly wage ranging from $20 to $25.
- Flexible scheduling within a 29-hour weekly limit.
- Seasonal, on-site work in a natural-resource setting.
