Part-Time Security Officer – Campus Patrol

About the role

The University Police Department at Texas A&M University‑Central Texas is seeking a part‑time Security Officer to maintain a safe and welcoming campus environment. Working flexible shifts, you will serve as a visible deterrent and first responder to incidents across buildings, grounds and off‑site university properties.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol campus facilities and surrounding areas on foot or by vehicle, monitoring for suspicious activity, unlocked doors, fires, vandalism and other safety concerns.
• Provide on‑site security presence in designated locations such as libraries, athletic centers, research labs and off‑campus properties.
• Assist visitors, students and staff by answering questions, offering directions and referring inquiries to appropriate personnel.
• Support University Police during special events, including football games and large gatherings.
• Complete incident reports and communicate findings to supervisors promptly.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of related security experience or completion of a Security Officer in Training program.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays, and to perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions.
• U.S. work authorization and successful completion of a background investigation (driving, criminal and credit history).
