About the role
R+L Carriers is seeking a Safety Hazmat Technician for its Elgin, IL service center. The role supports emergency response, hazardous material cleanup, and site remediation while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Respond to emergencies involving hazardous and non‑hazardous materials.
- Perform cleanup, site remediation, and equipment decontamination.
- Handle, containerize, and document hazardous material shipments.
- Audit incoming and outgoing hazardous shipments for regulatory compliance.
- Set up and participate in live training events for personnel competency.
Required profile
- 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 75 lb.
- Ability to work under high‑pressure, fast‑paced conditions.
- Strong communication skills to inform management of job issues.
- Willingness to coach co‑workers on unsafe behaviors.
Required skills
- Operation of emergency‑response tools and equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Auditing hazardous‑material shipments for compliance.
