About the role
Catholic Charities of Long Island seeks a part‑time Kitchen Aide to support meal service at the Coram Nutrition Center, helping deliver dignified care to vulnerable community members.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare dining areas and kitchen for client meals, including table setup and tray portioning.
- Monitor cooking equipment, follow special diet requirements, and ensure food safety standards.
- Perform cleaning duties such as clearing tables, washing work areas, and disposing of trash.
- Maintain inventory, reorder supplies, and track meal counts.
- Document client or staff notes related to service and alert supervisors to any food‑related issues.
- Orient volunteers to kitchen policies and procedures.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least six months of related experience preferred.
- Completion of a General Food Handlers course from Suffolk County Dept. of Health.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb.
