Paramedic – Emergency Department (Day Shift)

As a Paramedic in the Emergency Department you will deliver immediate medical treatment to patients with critical injuries, illnesses and concerns, requiring fast thinking and decisive action.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the Emergency Department under direct RN supervision.
• Obtain and record vital signs; perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal or ET suctioning.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline lock insertion.
• Notify RN or physician of rhythm changes and apply orthopaedic appliances or simple splints.
• Size crutches, teach crutch walking and assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, lumbar puncture, etc.
• Assist with patient restraint and seclusion, transport patients and specimens, and maintain sterile supplies and equipment.
• Perform fluid and drug administration as directed.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic Training Program.
• Current Ohio Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic (EMTP) licensure.
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications through AHA or Red Cross.
• Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training Program.
• Preferred: ITLS certification and at least one year of EMT‑P experience.
