Operations Staff - Petersen Event Center

About the role

Legends Global is hiring an Operations Staff member for its Petersen Event Center, Victory Heights Arena and Sports Performance Center in Pittsburgh. The role prepares and maintains the facility for sporting events, concerts, banquets, commencements and private functions, and reports to the Operations Manager. It is a hands-on, unionized position under the direction of the Lead Utility, with a probationary period.

Key responsibilities

• Event preparation and conversion: set up and tear down staging, flooring, tables, chairs, pipe and drape and related equipment, following layout diagrams and moving furniture and athletic surfaces.
• Assist with deliveries, equipment transport and logistics.
• Maintenance: general upkeep, painting and minor repairs, exterior areas, and inclement weather response (plowing, shoveling, salting).
• Clean and maintain basketball courts, athletic surfaces and telescopic bleachers.
• Operate and maintain forklifts, lifts, snow blowers, plow trucks and other equipment.
• Supervise part-time and casual utility staff, assign tasks, act as acting lead when no senior staff is present, and help train new staff.
• Communicate with Event Operations leadership on progress, issues and safety concerns.
• Enforce safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA) and report hazards; wear PPE and operate equipment safely.

Required profile

• Willingness to work evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays, including extended shifts.
• Ability to lift, carry and move heavy equipment such as tables, chairs and staging.
• Team-oriented, organized, clear communicator and quick to adapt.
• Preferred: high school diploma or GED, experience in facility operations or event setups, and a valid driver's license.

Required skills

• Preferred: forklift certification and other equipment certifications.
• Preferred: ability to read and interpret technical setup diagrams.
