Energy Engineer

About the role

Energy Sciences is hiring an Energy Engineer in its Engineering and Consulting Services department. The role works with commercial and industrial customers to reduce energy use through energy efficiency programs, training and direct-to-customer services. It is a hybrid position with a home-based office, travel to the Greater Philadelphia area and use of a personal vehicle, with travel time of about 25%.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and quantify energy efficiency opportunities and perform energy and economic analyses
• Review energy assessments, opportunities and calculations
• Collaborate with customers, answer technical questions and develop projects
• Prepare reports and deliver presentations
• Conduct site surveys and facility assessments
• Support customers with utility energy efficiency programs
• Work with other technical team members to share energy engineering fundamentals

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; non-degree professionals considered with at least five years of experience in energy assessments and commissioning/retro-commissioning
• Preferred: CEM, CEA, CMVP, EBCP and PE certifications
• Preferred: two years of experience in utility energy efficiency support, retro-commissioning, new building commissioning, HVAC assessments, ASHRAE energy auditing, energy/economic analysis, BMS trending and verification, and calculating verified energy savings
• Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, pumps, chilled water, hot water, steam, industrial processes, compressed air) and decarbonization strategies
• Ability to work autonomously, communicate verbally and in writing, and work without visa sponsorship
