Operations Assistant Store Manager in Training

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring an Operations Assistant Store Manager in Training (OASM-IT) for its Toccoa, Georgia store. The role gives hands-on experience in the key responsibilities of an Assistant Store Manager through a structured training program of up to 6 weeks, including mentorship and leadership development. Trainees learn the Manager on Duty duties and how to run the store, working alongside the Store Manager and Assistant Store Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Training and preparation for the Assistant Manager position: complete assigned training modules and assessments, and learn staffing and scheduling, resolving stock shortages, coaching associates on selling behavior, handling customer issues and managing performance reviews and discipline.
• Customer experience: supervise associates in the selling effort, drive customer service and engagement, and resolve customer concerns promptly.
• Sales and productivity: help plan merchandise placement and stock integrity through inventory management, and learn to operate store equipment and systems and manage daily financial operations.
• Operations management: perform opening and closing duties, follow SOPs including safety compliance, and take steps to reduce shrink.
• Safety: ensure self and associates follow safety and hazmat procedures.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or GED; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
• At least 3 years of work experience, with 2+ years of leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams; action oriented, collaborative, effective communicator, customer focused and resourceful.
• Typically requires overnight travel of less than 5% of the time; must be able to stand, walk and lift moderate-weight items (8-20 pounds).
