Nurse Specialist – Pediatric Allergy and Immunology

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pediatrics seeks a full‑time Nurse Specialist to provide patient‑family centered care in pediatric allergy and immunology. The role combines clinical duties, research support, and coordination of newborn screening follow‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scratch and ID allergy testing, mix and administer allergy immunotherapy, and manage extract refrigerator temperature logs.
• Assist with clinic procedures such as food/drug challenges, desensitization, immunotherapy, and pulmonary function testing.
• Coordinate logistics for specialty therapeutics, including prior authorizations, pharmacy liaison, and home health services.
• Collaborate with research nurses and principal investigators on clinical trials, including study agent administration and specimen collection.
• Serve as Newborn Screen Coordinator, tracking statewide screening, facilitating follow‑up care, and counseling families.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
