Nurse Manager - Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

About the role

The Nurse Manager provides day‑to‑day leadership for the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Unit and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, ensuring safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care. The role partners closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to achieve exceptional outcomes while overseeing staffing, patient flow and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Manage professional nursing practice and delivery of care on the assigned unit.
• Establish clinical direction, provide supervision and maintain quality outcomes.
• Collaborate with liaison departments to maintain patient care standards and resolve issues.
• Develop and implement quality initiatives, policies and procedures.
• Maintain JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
• Analyze personnel structure, determine staffing needs and mix.
• Provide direction, evaluate performance, conduct hiring and termination, and develop strategic plans.
• Promote staff and self‑development, participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
• Oversee unit participation in evaluation of new products, approve purchases and manage inventory.
• Assist in budget development and monitoring.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and current RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) if in critical care.
• Minimum three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience.
• High degree of clinical expertise in pediatric hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant.
• Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem‑solving, decision‑making, conflict resolution and group process skills.
• Preferred: experience in hematology/oncology, chemotherapy, and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
