Non-Certified CS SPD Technician

About the role

The Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician supports the operating rooms at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus by ensuring safe and efficient decontamination, inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of instruments. This full‑time day shift position works from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm and may float between the Crile and Main Campus Q building.

Key responsibilities

• Manage case carts and ensure compliance with departmental standards.
• Handle equipment, instruments, and chemicals safely, following PPE protocols.
• Perform preventative maintenance on sterilization equipment.
• Scan, sort, inspect, assemble, wrap, label, and document instruments according to procedure lists.
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization loads and instrument counts.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) required within 18 months of hire.
• Ability to use the computerized instrument tracking system for counts, handling instructions, and documentation.
• Physical ability to lift 20‑30 lb items, push carts up to 200 lb, and stand/walk for long periods.
• Military experience in relevant technical fields is a plus.

Required skills

• Sterile processing certification (CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, CER).
• Proficiency with computerized instrument tracking systems.
• Knowledge of PPE standards and decontamination procedures.
