New Grad RN Resident - Thoracic Stepdown

About the role

The New Grad RN Resident position on the Thoracic Stepdown unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus offers recent nursing graduates a structured residency program. You will rotate day and night shifts, providing care to a diverse thoracic patient population while advancing your clinical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach on a 7:00 am‑7:30 pm / 7:00 pm‑7:30 am rotation.
• Establish and revise patient‑care priorities based on acuity, patient preference, and resource availability.
• Respond to data indicating patient risk and initiate corrective actions.
• Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when needed to ensure safe independent practice.
• Document all care activities accurately in patients’ medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if assigned to critical‑care areas, obtained within the first year of hire.
• New graduate RN or less than one year of RN work experience.
