New Grad RN Resident – Heart & Vascular Progressive Care ICU Pathway

About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic’s Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute as a New Graduate RN Resident in the Progressive Care unit. You will care for high‑acuity cardiac patients outside the ICU while building a solid foundation for a future critical‑care career.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to post‑open heart surgery patients, transplant recipients, VAD patients and those with advanced heart failure.
• Participate in a residency core curriculum and work alongside a success coach.
• Prioritize patient care based on acuity, patient preference and resource availability.
• Monitor patient data, identify risks and take corrective actions.
• Seek supervision or consultation when needed and document all care in medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• New graduate RN or less than one year of RN experience.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Advanced cardiac monitoring.
• Management of complex medication drips and specialized cardiac therapies.
