New Grad RN Resident – Heart & Lung Transplant

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is seeking a newly graduated Registered Nurse to join the Heart & Lung Transplant unit (J82). This 24‑bed step‑down unit provides specialized care for solid organ transplant patients, including those awaiting heart transplants on inotropic drips.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach, prioritizing patient acuity, preferences, and resource availability.
• Respond to clinical data indicating patient risk, initiating corrective actions promptly.
• Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when needed to ensure safe, independent practice.
• Document all care activities accurately in patients’ medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• Current state RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• New graduate or less than one year of RN experience, or RN transitioning to acute inpatient care with less than one year of acute direct‑care experience.
• ACLS certification required within the first year of hire for critical‑care areas.
