New Grad RN Resident – Heart & Lung Transplant Critical Care

About the role

The New Grad RN Resident will join Cleveland Clinic’s Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute on the Main Campus, providing specialized nursing care for solid organ transplant patients, including heart and lung recipients, as well as high‑acuity cardiac telemetry patients.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care on a 24‑bed step‑down unit (J82) for transplant and cardiac patients.
• Participate in a residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
• Collaborate with a success coach and adjust patient care priorities based on acuity, preferences, and resources.
• Monitor patient data, intervene to mitigate risks, and seek supervision when needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation in patient medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• Current state RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• New graduate or less than one year of acute inpatient RN experience (or RN transitioning from non‑inpatient to acute care).
• For critical care areas, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within the first year of hire.
