Network Installation Technician II

About the role

PEAKE is seeking a self‑motivated Network Installation Technician II to support a 10‑month Department of War (DoW) contract. The role focuses on installing, terminating, and testing structured copper and fiber cabling for enterprise services.

Key responsibilities

• Install CAT6 and fiber‑optic structured cable distribution systems.
• Terminate Ethernet and fiber connectors, test single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber using Fluke and OTDR equipment.
• Perform fiber characterization, fire stopping, cable pulling, dressing, and labeling to industry standards.
• Install closet hardware such as backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.
• Follow DISA installation procedures for NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, and Centrix networks.
• Attend training and safety meetings and adhere to all safety policies.

Required profile

• Active DoW Secret clearance (or higher).
• 3+ years of relevant cabling or construction‑trade experience.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb+, climb, stand for long periods, and work in communication closets.
• Previous experience leading a team is preferred.

Required skills

• CAT6 structured cabling installation.
• Fiber‑optic cabling installation and termination.
• Ethernet termination and testing.
• Single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber testing with Fluke and OTDR.
• Fiber characterization and troubleshooting.
• Cable pulling, fire stopping, and industry‑standard labeling.
• Installation of backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.
• Knowledge of DISA procedures (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, Centrix).
• Network configuration and troubleshooting.
• BICSI Installer/Technician certification (preferred).
• Security+ certification (optional).
