Mission Operations Sustainment Engineer – Autonomous Surface Vessels

About the role

You will join Saronic Technologies’ team responsible for keeping Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel (MUSV) platforms mission‑ready. The role blends field maintenance with product development, ensuring propulsion, electrical, hydraulic and hull systems operate reliably in contested littoral environments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on USV propulsion, electrical, hydraulic and hull systems in shore‑based and forward‑deployed settings.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and software‑interfaced faults, supporting repairs to restore mission readiness.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑mission inspections, verify watertight integrity, structural condition and safety before launch.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, technical records and configuration status in line with class society and DoD standards.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory, coordinate with OEMs and vendors, and assist in developing SOPs, manuals and emergency repair procedures.
• Support coordination with operators for waterspace deconfliction, safety‑boat integration and range‑safety compliance during test runs.
• Assist in delivering maintenance training courses and train‑the‑trainer programs for military technicians.

Required profile

• Foundational degree in marine, mechanical or related engineering discipline.
• Hands‑on experience with autonomous maritime platforms or similar complex systems.
• Ability to work in both dockside and waterborne environments and communicate clearly with technicians and senior engineers.
