Mission Operations Engineer

About the role

As a Mission Operations Engineer at Reflect Orbital, you will own day‑to‑day spacecraft operations and build the operational infrastructure that supports a growing satellite constellation. This high‑ownership position sits on a small, collaborative team where you will write, improve, and define procedures and tools.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor real‑time telemetry and spacecraft subsystem health, triage and investigate anomalies, and document lessons learned.
• Plan and execute maneuvers, station‑keeping, orbital adjustments, and coordinate ground‑station passes.
• Develop, validate, and maintain operational procedures, command sequences, and automation for telemetry monitoring, alerting, and anomaly response.
• Support LEOP, bus and payload commissioning, orbit‑raising campaigns, and 24/7 rotating shift work.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to define CONOPS, fault management, and onboard FDIR responses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
• 3+ years of experience in satellite mission operations or a related field.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under high‑pressure, real‑time conditions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mission control software (e.g., OpenC3, COSMOS, Kratos EPOCH, L3Harris InControl).
• Programming and scripting in Python; C++ preferred.
• Linux command‑line expertise.
• Experience with DevOps tools: Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with RF systems, ground‑station operations, and link budgets.
