Mission Control Manager

About the role

Waabi is building generative AI for the physical world, starting with autonomous trucks. The Mission Control Manager will own the operational nerve‑center that coordinates every mission and load, ensuring safety, efficiency and continuous improvement across both R&D testing and commercial freight.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end Mission Control operations, including remote assist, fleet and mission management, and dispatch coordination.
• Build, lead and coach a team of Remote Assist Specialists and Mission Control Specialists – hiring, scheduling, training and performance management.
• Define and own KPIs such as mission completion rate, intervention rate, mean time to respond, operator‑to‑truck ratio and fleet uptime.
• Turn novel road events into updated SOPs, debriefs and handoffs through a continuous‑improvement loop.
• Serve as the escalation point for issues that exceed floor‑level authority, interfacing with engineering, legal, safety and leadership.
• Set standards for emergency response, redundancy procedures and 24/7 coverage planning as the operation scales.
• Validate and pressure‑test the Mission Control operating model during supervised operations before driverless launch.
• Partner cross‑functionally with Dispatch, Vehicle Operations, Test Operations, Fleet Readiness, Training, Autonomy and Commercial teams.
• Represent Waabi to customers, regulators and visitors touring Mission Control.

Required profile

• 6+ years of operations leadership with experience managing other leaders.
• Background running or standing up a 24/7 shift‑based control, NOC or command centre.
• Proven ability to build and scale teams and operating models from early stages.
• Calm judgment under pressure and strong cross‑functional communication.
• Track record of turning incidents into improved processes, not just reports.
• Comfort working in a technical environment; deep autonomous‑vehicle expertise not required.
• Logistics, trucking, aviation, emergency dispatch or AV operations experience is a plus.
• Willingness to work onsite in Lancaster, TX and flex to shift‑based coverage as needed.
