Middle School Science Teacher – American Board Residency

About the role

Carmen Schools of Science & Technology seeks a dynamic, student‑centered Middle School Science Teacher for the Northwest Middle Campus as part of the 2026‑2027 American Board Teacher Residency. The position is full‑time, on‑site, and includes support for licensure costs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver rigorous, engaging science lessons aligned with Carmen’s academic standards.
• Use data to inform instruction, differentiate learning, and set individual learning plans.
• Collaborate with an Instructional Coach and fellow teachers to continuously improve practice.
• Maintain accurate records in PowerSchool, update grades weekly, and communicate regularly with families.
• Serve as an advisor to a small group of students and contribute to a positive school culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and licensure (or eligibility) from Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction in the subject(s) taught.
• Successful teaching experience, preferably in an urban school setting.
• Commitment to equity, college readiness, and high student achievement.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Required skills

• Effective classroom management techniques.
• Proficiency with educational technology and integration of tools into daily instruction.
• Data analysis skills to set goals and track student progress.
