About the role
Mentor Coordinators support DREAM’s Village Mentoring program by training, recruiting, and guiding volunteer college mentors, ensuring high‑quality, culturally responsive support for youth.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure volunteer mentors understand the Village Mentoring model, their roles, and receive necessary training and resources.
- Communicate with the Regional Director to assess mentee needs and facilitate partnership between community, staff, and mentors.
- Build relationships with each mentor and mentee, maintain a 1:1 mentor‑mentee ratio, and oversee chapter wellness including recruitment and compliance.
- Attend weekly Village Mentoring sessions, conduct trainings, and hold regular meetings with volunteers.
Required profile
- U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident; at least 17 years old (or 16 for out‑of‑school youth).
- Commitment to the full service term (Oct 12 2026 – May 9 2027) and to DREAM’s mission of equity and inclusion.
- Ability to pass required criminal background checks and maintain reliable transportation and phone access.
- Demonstrated experience or education serving diverse communities and a passion for youth development.
Required skills
- Strong time‑management and prioritization abilities.
- Effective communication and relationship‑building with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
What we offer
- Living stipend of $309 bi‑weekly (pre‑tax) for the 10‑month term.
- Eligibility for the Segal Education Award ($1,565.08 pre‑tax) upon completion.
- Professional development support from a DREAM AmeriCorps Director and mileage reimbursement for work‑related travel.
