Medical Technologist / Lab Technician – Molecular Microbiology

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is seeking a Medical Technologist/MLT/Lab Technician to perform and interpret molecular microbiology tests during night shifts. This position offers a sign‑on bonus of up to $5,000 and the opportunity to work with cutting‑edge technology in a world‑class healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and interpret molecular microbiology tests of all complexity levels.
• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, analysis, reporting, and record keeping.
• Maintain regulatory knowledge, adhere to quality control policies, and document all QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
• Identify and resolve quality control or performance issues, notifying supervisors as needed.
• Maintain instruments per manufacturer specifications and ensure good documentation practices.
• Participate in proficiency testing and comply with CLIA regulations.
• Provide education and training to students, residents, and staff on laboratory techniques and safety protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science/technology from an accredited institution.
• Meets CLIA qualifications for high‑complexity testing personnel (grandfathering clause).
• Certification or eligibility for certification as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLT, MLS) through ASCP or AMT.
• Valid transcripts; foreign diplomas must be evaluated by a NACES member.
