Medical Technologist - Full Time, Day Shift

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction, is hiring a full-time Medical Technologist for its laboratory. The position works in collaboration with department leadership to support the department's needs, performing, interpreting and reporting clinical laboratory diagnostic tests on blood and body fluids.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain competency in licensed areas and perform testing as needed
• Keep testing analyzers, laboratory processes and equipment running through quality control, calibrations, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
• Evaluate, implement and validate new equipment and techniques
• Assist in orienting and training new team members
• Maintain laboratory supply and reagent inventory and place orders
• Review pending logs and resolve outstanding workload, communicating findings to the next shift
• Stay current through workshops, publications and professional societies, and act as a resource for other departments
• Follow infection-control, hazardous waste and confidentiality policies, and maintain a safe, clean workplace

Required profile

• Licensed as a medical technologist in the state of Florida
• Education: AA/AS or BS preferred
• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 40 lbs; able to stand, sit and walk for long periods in a stressful environment
• Annual Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service and health requirements, TB/PPD surveillance program, and maintenance of professional license or certification
