Medical Technologist – Blood Bank (Evening Shift)

About the role

The Medical Technologist/MLT/Lab Technician works in the Blood Bank, performing and interpreting laboratory tests of all complexity levels to support patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, reporting and record keeping.
• Maintain regulatory knowledge, quality‑control policies, instrument calibrations and address any quality‑control issues.
• Perform proficiency testing in compliance with CLIA regulations and document results accurately.
• Identify and resolve problems affecting test performance or notify supervisors as needed.
• Provide education and training to students, residents and staff on laboratory techniques and safety.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science (or equivalent).
• Meets CLIA high‑complexity testing qualifications (grandfathering clause).
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLT or MLS) or eligibility through ASCP/AMT preferred.
• Knowledge of PCR techniques and pipetting experience preferred.
