Medical Records Director (Central State Hospital)

About the role

The Medical Records Director leads the Health Information Management (HIM) department at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, ensuring accurate and complete medical records and compliance with regulatory standards. This senior position oversees staff, policies, and budget to support high‑quality health services.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and supervise HIM supervisors and staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and discipline.
• Maintain control of complete and accurate medical records throughout the hospital.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission Record of Care standards.
• Develop and implement HIM policies and procedures.
• Set priorities, goals, and objectives to resolve identified issues.
• Participate in the development and administration of the HIM budget.

Required profile

• Registered Health Information Administrator or Technician (RHIA or RHIT) preferred.
• At least three years of experience managing a HIM department.
• Experience supervising staff.
• Familiarity with hospital information systems and electronic medical records systems.
