Medical Receptionist I

About the role

Texas A&M Health is seeking a Medical Receptionist I to greet patients, manage phone scheduling, and support front‑desk operations in a primary‑care clinic. The role involves data entry into the Electronic Management System and handling billing and insurance inquiries. The position contributes to a respectful, excellent, and patient‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Answer patient phone calls, schedule appointments, verify demographics and insurance, and route calls to clinical staff.
• Check‑in patients at the front desk, collect co‑pays, verify insurance, scan IDs, and assist with kiosk use.
• Process billing projects such as correcting denied claims, contacting patients for upcoming visits, and entering demographics for hospital billers.
• Maintain accurate electronic records and ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by clinic leadership.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of related experience.
• Preferred associate’s degree and two years of general office experience, including one year in a medical office.
• Prior experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
• Fluent Spanish and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
