Postdoctoral Research Associate

About the role

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will join the Case Laboratory in the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Medical Physiology at Texas A&M University School of Medicine. The role involves independent and collaborative research on neuroimmunology, stress and trauma biology, and immune‑brain interactions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, execute, and analyze independent research projects focused on neuroimmune interactions and trauma‑related physiology.
• Develop and implement mouse models, perform rodent surgical procedures, and conduct physiological, immunological, molecular, and behavioral experiments.
• Collect, manage, and interpret data using appropriate statistical approaches; prepare manuscripts and present findings at conferences.
• Contribute to grant applications, progress reports, and maintain compliance with animal research regulations.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, lead research personnel, and assist in laboratory management.

Required profile

• PhD in neuroscience, immunology, physiology, pharmacology, biomedical sciences, or related field.
• Research experience in neuroimmunology, psychoneuroimmunology, or immune‑brain communication, including stress, trauma, or PTSD mechanisms.
• Proven record of scientific productivity, manuscript preparation, and grant writing.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Flow cytometry and immune cell phenotyping.
• Cytokine analysis.
• PCR, qPCR, Western blotting, and transcriptomic analyses.
• Advanced statistical analysis and scientific programming.
• Rodent surgical techniques and mouse handling.
