Medical Laboratory Technician

About the role

Aoncology is hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician for its Hematology Oncology of Indiana practice. The position covers laboratory testing, quality control, phlebotomy, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, with a pay range of $19.66 to $30.86.

Key responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing, quality control and phlebotomy, and operate equipment such as centrifuges, dry bath incubators and blood bank refrigerators.
• Perform manual and automated routine blood tests and prepare specimens for microscope examination.
• Carry out quality control procedures before patient testing and complete documentation (test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, procedure and training checklists) on schedule, in the central lab.
• Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and place orders with purchasing as needed.
• Perform technical procedures accurately, meet accreditation and regulatory standards, and troubleshoot instruments, contacting the service company when necessary.
• Follow safety guidelines, keep the lab clean, and comply with state and federal regulations, including compliance testing.
• Protect patient and employee confidentiality and follow AON and departmental policies, including IT policies and the Disaster Recovery Plan.
• Keep the MLT license and required CEUs, assist in training new employees, and work overtime when given sufficient notice.

Required profile

• A.A. or A.S. degree.
• Appropriate state license; national lab certification preferred; BLS preferred.
• At least four years of experience in healthcare, preferably in a clinical setting.
